Saw It. Loved It.

So I know, I know! I am absolutely horrible about following through with my weekly, daily, monthly, etc. features! I am going to try my absolute best to keep up with some of them though! If I am getting behind, show the comment love and push me!

So...for my "Saw It. Loved It." theme today is Thanksgiving!

Isn't this page kit just adorable? Especially the little turkey guy! I could definitely see myself using this Give Thanks Kit to create my Thanksgiving scrapbooking page!

So I'm not so sure about you, but the most Thanksgiving-like scent to me is definitely pumpkin spice! This Spiced Pumpkin Cold Process Soap looks good enough to eat!

This Be Thankful Pillow would look wonderful on your couch for the holiday! It is just too cute!

Contestant Five

Contestant Four

Contestant Four

When it comes to crafts I basically like all of them. I love to sew, make decorations for my home, I dabble with beads and threads and I love (vintage) paper craft. Recently I confiscated our attick for my craft space and now I am lucky enough to have a designated sewing table and a paper craft table. I used only furniture we already had or that I recently thrifted at my in-laws or that I bought for dirt cheap at the thriftstore. Anything that is not goodlooking on its own got a splash of white paint so that it blended in with the rest. My craft room is not nearly finished, but then will it ever?

Contestant Three

Contestant Two

Contestant One

It is from Michaels by Jet Max, I have it on a wall and then I have a 6 foot utility table on the other wall, and I move the carosel back and forth!

No More Virtual Dust

Blog remodeling is currently over for the time being! I hope you love the new design! I made it myself using Amanda's Fall Collection Digital Scrapbooking Kit. If you would like your blog redone, please let me know and I would love to do it for you! As of now, I will be doing custom ones for just $5, plus the cost of the digital scrapbooking kit (there are tons of free ones).

Please do leave your comments on the new design! If you find a good digi scrapping kit and think it would fit the blog well, please do let me know!

Bath and Body Works Promotion

I did some major shopping today! I took a visit to Bath and Body Works. They had a special promotion where if you spend $15, you get a FREE item up to a $13 value. So, I picked out 5 of their mini gel anti-bacterial waterless hand sanitizer, which were on sale for 5 for $5. Then I grabbed one of their winter scented anti-bacterial moisturizing hand soaps for my bathroom. Their amazing shea cashmere hand creams were on sale for $7.50, and I got one of those. For my free item, I got a wallflower for my craft room! I love it! I had planned to get their new scent bug, but the free item could not be applied to that. :-( The wallflower is great too though! Also, when you get all this stuff, they give you a little catalog with three coupons good for future use!

Keep voting for your favorite space!

Hope you are all having a fantastic day!

Revolving Cube Organizer

My revolving cube was my first part of my cube system! I bought it before I even decided to go "all out" and re-organize everything. I really love the cube, because there is just so much you can do with it! In this shot to the left, you can see that there are four smaller shelves, and two larger ones. I use the four smaller ones to hold small squares of paper. Most are 3x3" that I got from matdi123's scrapbooking destash packs! :-) Then I have a few mini pads
<----------------- from the Michael's $1 bin. (They were actually only $.40 because everything was 60% off!) In the first lager one, I have a mini stapler, and a mini hole punch. In the bottom one, I have all sorts of small adhesives including little 3-D squares, tape, scrapbooking tear tape, deco tape, and a glue pen. I don't keep all my adhesives there, because they don't all fit. Then, in the top, it has an area (came with a dowel) that is supposed to be used for ribbon. But it only holds 4-5 spools, so it was quite useless to me! Instead, I took out the dowel and put all my stamps in there. I don't have lots of big stamps, so it fits them all. :-) Finally, it has a removable mesh drawer/compartment. In there, I just throw all of my chipboard.

I got my cube for just $15, because it was on clearance! :-)

Gift Guide...MINI!

I decided I wanted to start making gift guides! Most items will be off of Etsy, because I love it and it's just a great place. :-) So, what better way to start off, than with Halloween! My absolute favorite holiday is Halloween, so I always go a little crazy! Here I go...

Silly Swirls Halloween Crayons Set of 20 from GaddyNipperCrayons
$8.75 will get you a set of 20 nifty multi-colored crayons! Really fun, and a great Halloween treat for the little doodler!

Cupcake Toppers Halloween from Mary Had a Little Party

I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks these are incredibly adorable! Perfect for your Halloween party made to be fun scary, not scary scary! Set of six toppers for $5.

Ghost Family by JooJoo Land

These just really caught my eye!
So adorable and really cute! These would be a great addition to your Halloween festivities! $27 will get you a full family of three little ghosties!

I'm gonna keep it short and sweet for my first one, so I shall end it here! Please leave feedback if you have some opinions on my first selection! Nominations are always welcome! The next guide will be Thanksgiving themed!

Embelishment Binder

Hi everyone! I have something to share with you all! I recently made a quick trip to my local Five Below store, and they had a bunch of binders there. I picked up a Mead Cush Cover with Accordion Folder for $5. I headed to my dollar store, and picked up those trading card binder pocket protectors. These work really well to store embellishments! Just slip them in the pocket, and you're all good! My store had 90 pages worth of slots for a dollar, and I picked up three! For some things, they don't fit, or fall out, so I have a whole drawer of those things. Then, for most of my rub ons and sheets of stickers, I punch a whole or two and just slip them into the binder rings. If you use this method, please email me and let me know how you liked it!

Hasta Manana!

Last Words for Today...

Okay, sorry for like three posts today! I guess it's better than nothing! ;-) Anyway, I just realized that I haven't posted really anything lately about organizing! OOOPSSS! I'm so very sorry! I am going to try my absolute hardest to tidy up my projects and take some pictures for you! I have done quite a bit though! :-)

In regards to our contest, to hopefully get more entries, I am going to offer a month of your button being in my sidebar here. If you don't already have a button, I will design that as well. :-) Please do not be embarrassed to enter! I know it can be a little hard posting pictures of something that you really don't think is that great, but check out my first post! Boy, that took a lot of nerve! lol. Anyway, please remember weither your space is elaborate, huge, or a corner like mine, we would all love to see it! I think what a lot of us don't realize is that just because we all have crafting rooms/spaces, doesn't mean they're huge, or elaborate! Take me for example, mine in the size of a shoebox! But if you make the most of your space, it can be pretty darn great! So, push yourself to send me a picture or two of your room! What does it hurt?

Good night ladies!

Dancing In the Rain!

Today, I heard a great saying, and just had to share it! I think this has become my favorite! It almost made me teary when I heard it. Here it is...
"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain..."
I always used to love to dance in the rain when I was little, but being the typical mom, she would call to me "Get in here, and wait until the rain passes! I don't need you getting sick!" That is probably why I teared a bit when I heard it. I wish I could go back to when I was six or so and just spin in the rain endlessly!

AHHHH...the good ol' days!

One last thought! PLEASE comment on what I should write about next! I want to hear what YOU want me to write about! It can really be anything! :-)

Ciao!

The Secret is in the Sauce!

Hey everyone! So I see my little contest is not doing too well! :-( I know it's my own fault though! However, I have a discovery for you all! I was browsing another blog, The Shopping Kiwi, and came across this little button on her blog, and I clicked on it. It brought me to a neat little site called "The Secret is in the Sauce", or SITS. It's a community of women, who support each other's blogs through comments! If you have a blog, you have gotta check out SITS! It is super easy to get started, and maybe one day you and I can both be featured and get 100 comments! Hey, a girl can dream right! ;) Like I said, I have been absolutely terrible, but my schedule is starting to get back on track, so hopefully I will be blogging at least once a day now! *crosses fingers*
Ciao Ladies!

NEW CONTEST!

CONTEST TIME! I am looking for Craft Room Photos! It doesn't have to be big, or extravagant! It can even be just a shot of materials! Inspirational, organizational, cool, any photo that is YOURS can be submitted! Please do not submit other people's photos! If you think they have a shot, then you can contact them suggesting that.

So how is this gonna work? If you have a picture for me, please email it to nicoleherex@gmail.com with "Craft Room Picture" in the subject line. Feel free to add a little blurb or bio of you and/or you picture. If it is not obvious what it is, please include what your picture is of. By submitting a photo, you agree that the photo is yours. Readers will then vote on their favorite picture by commenting as many times as they'd like (must be a different comment). The picture with the most votes will win a set of 3 handmade cards, as well as a feature (if you have a website, blog, or shop) here on my blog.

So what are you waiting for? Go and submit your photos!

If you are outside of the United States, or Canada, you may have to pay shipping costs for the cards, or we can arrange another prize for you that does not require shipping.

The Update Fairy Visits

Hey everyone! I have been absolutely terrible lately with posting! YAY! Why the heck is that "yay" or "good"? Because that means I have been super busy working on organizing! I have lots and lots to show you! I have also been stocking up a lot lately from Etsy sellers! I would love to share some of my favorite destash sellers on Etsy!

First up is matdi123, also known as Not Your Everyday Cards on Etsy! For just $1.50 plus shipping, she sent me a destash pack including ribbon, 3x3 paper squares (she has amazing papers in there), store bought embellishments, hand made embellishments, die cuts and punches, ribbons and fibers, fabric flowers, and stickers! The value is absolutely amazing!
Next, I would be honored to showcase Fernwood Cottage on Etsy! I absolutely love her shop! I ordered one set of mini clear stamps, and one wood mounted rubber stamp for Thanksgiving from her! Even though I had a small purchase totaling $2.95, she treated me as if I bought her entire shop! It was just great! She contacted me thanking me for my order, telling me when it would ship, letting me know it shipped, and a follow up! I really appreciate that little extra step some sellers choose to take. She has such simple, but beautiful coordinating packaging, and including two adorable hand made hang tags as a little gift! Also, her prices are really great!
Mattiecakes is a great source for trims! I ordered a yard of ric-rac, and a yard of burlap loop trim. She has a great selection of colors and types to choose from! The way she packages her items is just fantastic! My purchase came wrapped in a vintage (at least looked vintage, lol) sewing pattern, folded neatly. Then, it had little french style vintage wrappings all the way through including the trims being wrapped around a manilla hang tag! Great service as well!
Last, but certainly not least, Scrap With Style, on Etsy is for sure one of my favorite suppliers! She is so patient, and has such a great shop! She makes you feel so welcome in her shop! Janelle (owner of Scrap With Style) put together a selection of 4x6" papers and 5" (great for my cards) pieces of ribbons for me! The selection of items is just fantastic! She also is great with communication, and responds in a very timely manner (same with shipping)!
I hope you will consider visiting one, if not all, of these great shops should you be in need of any scrapbooking/papercrafting supplies!

Tuesday's Eye Candy Craft Space

Seriously, you would so be lying if you told me that you do not want Amanda's craft room! I am *so* jealous! But we can't all have amazing dads that can build an entire custom craft room like hers! I also wish I had even a quarter of her supplies! Feast your eyes on these pictures. I'm not going to even begin to explain her organization and such, because I couldn't do it better than Amanda herself! (http://www.kevinandamanda.com/photos/scraproom/new/)

How to Build Up Your Stash On a Budget

So, you think you need more supplies? Or are starting a new craft? But, there is a catch (isn't there always)! Say you are getting into scrapbooking. Like any craft, the supply costs can definitely get out of control! You don't want to spend $500 on supplies to start off, especially because you don't even know if you're going to love it! What to do? What to do? If you are going to scrap, I suggest owning some sort of die cut machine (in the long run it may even save you some money!). I really don't see the need (unless you're doing this for a living) to own the popular Cricut machine. They start at $200, and the cartridges average about $70 each. Yes, I did consider it. Did I get it? Nope! Do I regret it? Nope! It is a rare occasion when I need a very complex die cut. When I do, there are the great people at Etsy who sell them for reasonable prices. Or, there is Michael's with their sticky things that can be extremely complex! So, what die cut machine do I have? I have the Cuttlebug, which is made by the same people that makes the Cricut. I *love* my Cuttlebug. One thing it does that the Cricut does not do is emboss. And I *love* the embossing feature. The embossing folders are about $5 for the A2 sizes, and about $6 for a set of four small ones. The die cuts are about $7 for a set of four small ones, and the same for a 3"X3" die. While there will be some exceptions, these are pretty standard. I got my Cuttlebug for $30.80 at Michael's! They are normally $77, and the 40% off coupon is good on them! :-) Now, just walk away for that day.

Go back when you have another 40% off coupon! Then, browse down the clearance section, and all the scrapping supplies sections. Look for good deals! I usually just go down the eisles looking for the red and yellow clearance stickers. As soon as I spot one, I go over and see if I'm interested. Usually Michael's will have a few papers, a few embelishments, and a few sticker things with these sales. Almost always, Michael's will have anywhere from 20% - 45% off their 12x12 individual papers. I usually set a $10-$15 paper budget per trip. I have gotten up to 60 papers for this amount! This is rare though, as I will usually get about 25 with their average sales. In addition to this, pick up a few packs of clearance/sale stickers, embelishments, etc. I will expect to spend about $6-$8 on embelishments (including ribbon) per trip. I usually spend about $35 at Michael's every trip. This includes not just scrapping supplies, but decor, framing, and other little trinkets that just don't fit into my paper or embelishment "budget". Also, don't forget that Michael's always has their $1 section of ribbon and embelishments! I made out the other day finding the most adorable little journaling spots, rhinestones, and chipboard albums in there!

Now, you have that 40% off you have to use on a full price item. I usually pick out a 12x12" pack of paper to use on this (or a die cut set, or splurge on a real special embellishment set). They go for about $19.99, so you can get it for just over $10, which is a great price! Or, if you are going through the organizing stages, you may want to spend it on some of their organizational cubes.

Michael's puts *tons* of stuff on sale every week. Don't be in a huge rush. For example, last month I had my eye on a huge pack of chipboard letters for $19.99. Even though it was a great price, I opted out. Just today, I was browsing through the clearance section and found it at $9.99. You better bet I snatched it up! :-)

If you have any questions about budgeting your trips to the crafting shop, please don't hesitate to ask! Like many scrappers, I have a huge paper addiction, but I have taught myself to control myself. ;-) This budget above can also be applied and adjusted a bit to sewers, painters, etc.

Good luck and have fun!

Eye Candy Space

So today while browsing the Etsy forums, I found a thread called, Show me your workspace! All the contributors to that thread had so many great spaces! I wanted to share so many of them with all of you, but I just can't do it all at once! My solution? As often as I can (hopefully one a day), I will post my daily "Eye Candy Space". These spaces will not always be from scrappers, so everyone else will be able to get ideas for their space if you're a jewelry artist, sewer, etc.

Today's Eye Candy Space is from...*drum roll*...Posh Dots! I just love her paint wall! I love how it is organized by color, but the different shades are just mixed up. It's organized, but still very fun at the same time! My next favorite part of her room is the roll of ribbon under the paint rack. Or is it that colored tape? Either way, I think it just looks really nice! I don't know what is stored in that nine cube shelf, but that is pretty nice too! I love the bright colors of the materials contrasted with the pale blue wall paint. Now also be sure to visit her Etsy shop! I love her work, and may just have to purchase something for my craft room! I just love her shop, and her room is a great inspiration to anyone working with acrylic paints! Great work PoshDots!

Moving Along...

This past week I made a few trips to Michael's and bought a few of their cubes! I'm going to try and get them all done tomorrow, then I shall post pictures! Hopefully they're not too hard to put together, but usually this stuff is! :-( Anyway, I am going for a cube look, which is really good for a compact space because you can stack them!

I found this really great resource of Michaels.com:
They have a few different craft room layouts for you to choose from, then they tell you what pieces from the Jetmax Modular Storage collection, which is what I am using.

The U-Shaped Room is my favorite! Then they have the Standard Craft Room, which is good if you don't have a lot of stuff, but a decent sized space/room. The Large Craft Room is great for all of you who have a really nice, large room dedicated for just your crafting. When my basement is all finished (which was yet again delayed), I will be purchasing extra pieces to put this room together down there. The last one is the Compact Craft Room, which seems like it would be perfect if you have just one wall for your crafting area. This layout would just never work for me because I like to be surrounded by everything. Half of my inspiration (even though it sounds really weird) comes from just staring at my supplies. Eventually a paper will catch my eye, and will inspire me to create a whole page or card from it! Although none of these layouts will work for my current awkward space, I found this helpful to know as to what everything looks like so that I could plan out exactly what I needed before going in!

Oh yes, and a note about my fun sea friend pictures! ;-) These were all taken by me at the Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, TN on my recent trip there over the Summer. I don't have pictures of the storage units yet, so just threw them up to give you something to look at. ;-)

Front Page Find

I logged into Etsy today to find these on the front page---------->
aren't they great? now, yes, yes, there are TONS of these on Etsy. But these are in such a fun and suitable fabric! I can so just imagine going into Wegmans (or wherever you do your veggie shopping), and everyone just "oohing" and "ahhing" over these bags! I just had to give them a huge heart! Check them out here- Happy Vegetable Reusable Vegtable Bags

Before...The Disasterous Mess!

BEHOLD! My messy, cluttered, super small craft room. I just moved from my guest room (because in-case I actually have guests, they need some where to live!) to my sister's room. My basement is *hopefully* going to be finished soon, so I will need to move down there. Until then, my craft room is in the room where my little sister sleeps when she stays over. It is *tiny*. So, I am going to make the most of my space...hence the point of this blog! I thought it would be good for you to see some before pictures! And yes, I KNOW this is an absolute, terrible, disorganized, horrific mess! I am aware! I'm going hunting for some storage furniture this weekend, so hopefully I will have something to show you all soon! *crosses fingers*

good night!
